sorry for the lateness of this and the next few posts. i miss-laid my camera! so without further ado...
we met up with a few friends at one of Tom Douglass's restaurants. he owns 5 or 6 in seattle, and rumor has it he's going to be opening another in the next year or 2. we've been to several, but not since i started keeping track of our food choices etc. so here's a new one for ya!
were quite a hungry bunch.
i don't remember getting an amuse bouche before this trip, but my memory could be faulty. this was pretty durn good, although i don't remember what it was.
a couple of us ordered the same items, so i'm not going to try and remember who had what, etc, i'll just go 'down the list' as it were and let you know what everything is.
Shrimp ~ Scallion potstickers, black vinegar~soy dipping sauce.
i mean you can't really go wrong with these, or at least the idea of these.
i think this is the Winter white salad, fennel, chicory, cucumber, reggiano, truffle oil.
i hope if i'm wrong that the person who had this appy can correct me.
Tsuyu broth, hudson valley foie gras ~ shiitake dumplings, scallion
pan seared scallops, new crop citrus, taggiasca olive, pistachio
i've had these before and they are great!
Ozette potato curry, grilled flatbread, shaved palm sugar, sweet n'sour mango, thick yogurt.
can you tell we had a vege person in our midst? i'm told they were very tasty.
Pan roasted black cod, la ratte fingerling potatoes, baby artichokes, warm olives, spring garlic sour cream
black cod is my favorite fish.
Fries with aioli and curry ketchup for the table. i must-have
Lemon ~ scallion dungeness crab cakes, groundnut ~ squash curry, bloomsdale spinach, fuzzy gourd, lemongrass.
"fuzzy gourd" - is that a food? sounds a bit suspicious to me! i've also had TD's crab cakes in the past. it's actually 1 of the dishes he's known for.
Rotisserie roasted 5 spice duck, spicy brussels sprouts, sesame yam, duck fat pear
this looked really yummy. if it's on the menu next time i'm there i might just have to order this.
Sticky toffee pudding cake, citrus buttermilk ice cream, rum toffee sauce
and tuille.
can't forget the tuille.
Triple coconut cream pie
there's 1 other thing dahlia lounge and bakery are known for.
the donuts.
as it's brought to you
our server shaking them up. she was a great sport to be photographed.
then she cuts off the top of the bag. trust me she's holding a pair of scissors in her right hand.
voila!
1/2 dozen wonderful, hot, sugary donuts. served with mascarpone and a blackberry sauce
i swear, these are the best reason to dine here. i tell everyone i know to get them. i love them, shamelessly, in all their glory. LOL
