7/3/2010 Air France

yes, that's right, Air France. as we embarked on our 2 week cycling trip from strasbourg to amsterdam i have been contemplating the best way to blog the food. there are a few meals which deserve their own postings, but to do that 2 meals a day for 16 days, well, it'd get a little tedious for me and possibly monotonous for you. so hopefully i've figured out a nice compromise.

on our flight to paris we were served lunch and breakfast.

we started with an amuse bouche:
smoked duck with pear

our tray: salad and appetizer

maine lobster, wasabi mayonnaise and mango salad.

that's real lobster, and wow it was good!

matt ordered this to drink - schweppes agrum. wow is it good. very refreshing. i'm hoping to find it here in the states. if anyone reading this knows where i can purchase/order it please let me know.

my entree:
fillet of snapper with basil citrus sauce, tagliatelle, and braised lettuce.

i usually hesitate to order fish - especially on an airplane, but this was right on.

matt ordered the chef's preference, free-range chicken stew with star anise, baby  turnips, carrots, leeks and potatoes.

selection of cheeses - a camembert and something harder.

a dessert trio of a mini chocolate eclair, linzertorte, and blueberry cake with maple syrup.

and what we skipped was the assortment of sorbets.

it was quite a meal. i think i can honestly say it was the best airplane meal i've ever had. and if you know how many of those i've (tried to) consume, you know that's saying a lot.

before landing we were served breakfast.

raspberry french toast with fruit.
