10/6/2010 Cafe Juanita

once again, and as will probably be always, we went to Cafe Juanita for my birthday.


we started with pink champagne - for me and for october.









since we dine at CJ often and many of the dishes we order we've had before i thought i'd have a little fun this time.

Rabbit Rillette with Pickled Grapes and Huckleberry Mostarda










seared foie gras with peaches, candied ginger and cocoa nibs
zuppa della sera which had bits of the flat iron steak, chick peas and turnip greens in the brodo











hearts of romaine with anchovy garlic vinaigrette, toasted breadcrumbs and parmigiano reggiano











for my birthday the kitchen sent out a serving of the cipollini ripieni of veal sweetbreads and pork with spinach, lemon and parmigiano reggiano fonduta

i love this dish. stuffed onions with cheese sauce!
 carlton farm pork cheeks with sunchoke puree, chanterelles and corn
 add the rest of my tagliata of blackmore wagyu flatiron steak with cipollini argodolce and butter fried sage and parmigiano reggiano fonduta
 apple crostata with hazelnut frangiapane, hazelnut brittle and cinnamon gelato - oh, and a candle
white chocolate mousse with lemon curd, huckleberry gelee and polenta cake











and mignardise - merengue cookies and hazlenut brittle.
