tonight's entry is a crossover entry. this can also be found on my msn spaces blog still, under health.
matt has been very sweet to me today. he knows it's a very introspective day for me.
today i celebrate my 2 year cancer free anniversary. as i did not have chemo or radiation, my 'start date' to counting was the day of my mastectomy. feb 6th 2007. the longer i'm cancer free statistically the better my chances are of not being re-diagnosed. however... well, all through the process i was on the 'losing side' of the stats! so i don't take anythign for granted! each july i will have a mammogram and every january a MRI. and each day before those test i'll probably stressout to no end!
this morning he brought me croissants and fresh-squeezed blood-orange juice for breakfast. this afternoon he took me up to the outlet shops to the brooks brothers store in the hopes they'd still have this shirt we saw there over new years week, and for dinner he took me and 2 of our good friends to dinner at cafe juanita.
christopher and christa met us at CJ.
we had so much food i am still amazed we had nothing to bring home for lunch tomorrow! there were quite a lot of things that several of us wanted to try, so we decided to order 'for the table' pretty much everything!
aperitif:
bottle of Bollinger '99 Brut, La Grand Annee - very nice!
appetizers:
Seared Foie Gras with Quince, Candied Ginger and Cocoa nibs
Alaskan King Crab with Green Apple Sorbetto and Sweet Butter Powder - INSANE!!!
Syrah '05 Long Shadows, Sequel, Columbia Valley
primi:
Sweet Grass Farms Wagyu Beef Bolognese with Tagliatelle
Lamb and Pinenut Caramelle with Gorgonzola Dolce
Organic Acquerello Risotto with Rising C Ranch Citrus and Styrian Pumpkinseed Oil
secondi:
Tagliata of Wagyu New York with Oxbow Farms Cipollini Agro Dolce and Gorgonzola Piccante
Fish of the Day special- daily preparation - this was pan-seared sablefish (black cod) with cipollini, and parsnip puree
Special - quail a vin santo reduction, with i don't remember
Roasted Pork Belly with Umbrian Lentils, Roasted Apples and Quince
dessert:
christopher and christa had the chocolate truffle cake with almond gelato, espresso and tea
matt and i had coffee, he had salt caramel gelato and i had chocolate sorbetto. - yeah, chocolate sorbetto! non dairy chocolate. but man it was rich! i couldn't down but 1 scoop of it!
dinner was very good, as usual. chef wasn't there tonight, but we were kind of expecting it.
lori was our waiter, jim and sarah met us at the door, and sean wrote 'congratulations' on my dessert plate and included a candle! we got hugs all around - they knew we were celebrating and what - and it was a lot of fun.
