while matt was chowing down on mushrooms at the herbfarm, my friend shelby joined me for her 1st tasting at cafe juanita. seeing as she pretty much cleared her plate of everything i'd say she enjoyed herself. and it was nice chef was there and we got to say hello.
alaskan red king brab with green apple sorbetto and crab butter poweder
a new appy, and it was yummers!
lamb testa:
lamb's head pieces slowly cooked with white wine, marjoram and lemon zest, with horseradish mostarda and arugula
this was room temp to cool, if i remember right. very tasty, not 'lamby' at all. the spices were right on.
a bombolono sans beet salad.
savory donut at it's finest. this one had gorgonzola inside
pear salad with thyme, pinenuts and white truffle oil
risotto with oxtail and parmigiano reggiano and a nice balsamico
pesce della sera-
sturgeon fillet:
pan seared over a butternut squash puree with a salad of shaved apple, arugula, crisp guanciale (think bacon) and pepperocini
maltagliati with lamb subo, honeyed ricotta and black pepper
cameo apple crostata with hazelnut frangiapana, hazelnut croccant and cinnamon gelato
pumpkin cheesecakes
