On our France trip last summer we got to know fellow local-area tandem team Thyce and Amy a little better. we'd been on a couple other rides together but i don't think we ever ended up at the same table for a meal before the france trip. they're totally organic and he's vegan on top of that. kind of limits the places you can go for high-end food.
we learned they hadn't been to tilth and as the last week of october was restaurant week in seattle we met up with them there. 3 courses for $25 and if you want you can add the suggested wine pairing. pretty good way to try out a number of restaurants for not too much money.
amuse bouche:
faro, cacao nibs and bacon pieces
(1 w/out the bacon)
crunchy goodness
full circle farm lettuces, mustard viniagrette, holmquist hazelnut, dill and snapdragons
cauliflower flan:
caramelized cauliflower, truffle viniagrette, capers
oxbow farm pumpkin soup:
pumpkin seed hummus, creme fraiche, cinnamon (above pic is before the pour)
a little thinner than i prefer, but wonderful taste
seared rare st. jude's albacore tuna:
fingerling potato, kohlrabi remoulade, cornichon
wild mushroom carnaroli risotto:
pickled cantrelle, basil, pine nut
wild boar bolognese:
orecciette, epazote, parmesan
this was excellent. the pasta was a little softer than i expected it to be, maybe just on the edge of being not 'al dente' but i didn't mind.
butterscotch pudding:
dewar's scotch, caramel, fresh breeze cream
the scotch was really strong in this. i'm glad i had the chocolate
single origin dark chocolate sorbet:
shaved chocolate, holmquist hazelnuts
this was so smooth and dense it felt more like a thick pudding than a sorbet
holmquist hazelnuts in coco powder
