7/29/2010 Cafe Juanita

if you've been following my eating adventures you know we are regulars at cafe juanita. everything was, as usual, quite tasty.

house smoked sablefish with pappa al pomodoro and toasted horseradish vinaigrette

this mixes 2 of my favs - the sablefish and the tomato soup. i would've never thought to put these 2 together but i guess that's why i'm not a chef

seared foie gras with bing cherries, candied ginger, and cocoa nibs

carne cruda of blackmore wagyu with crostini

zuppa della sera - chef smith's famous parmagiano brodo with wagyu

local squash blossom risotto with a 25 year balsamico sprinkled on top

the fish of the day: scallops with heirloom tomatos and a puree wtih small  pieces of bacon and a green

tagliata of blackmore wagyu flatiron steak with grilled spring onions, butter fried sage and black truffle pecorino fonduta

stokesberry farm young chicken with umbrian lentils, guanciale and arugula

billy allstot's heirloom tomatoes with ligurian olive oil

a few years back when we were in italy we had fresh tomatoes at a lot of meals and i now have a new fondness for fresh, good, tomatoes.

this plate is so simple and it was so full of flavor!

goat cheese gnocci with heirloom cherry tomatoes, guanciale and marjoram.

wow. the gnocchi is so soft and light, and the cerry tomatoes just pop in your mouth. fantastic!

bing cherry parfait with red wine poached cherries, cocoa nib tuille and chocolate sorbetto

white peach sorbetto and apricot-chevre gelato

chocolate hazelnut and buttercream with  sea salt
